Yoga for the Spine
Yoga for the Spine applies the principles and uses selected tools of Hatha Yoga, just as Yoga for Woman`s health does. It places the main emphasis on correcting posture, improving the flexibility and mobility of the spine. It strengthens and stretches the muscles, uses specific asanas to twist, bend and invigorate the spinal cord. Achieving the correct posture is also essential for establishing the proper use of breath. The most efficient way practising these advance techniques and get to the highest level in them can be only through on private yoga classes with your private yoga instructor.
“The spine is like the trunk of a tree. All parts of the body are connected in some way to the spine. When the trunk of a tree is strong and supple, the whole tree is healthy.” A. G. Mohan, Yoga for Body, Breath, and Mind
The same applies to the spine. The state of the spine determines the health of the entire body. A well balanced and flexible spine allows proper breathing and an active, healthy, well-functioning body and mind.

Practising Yoga for the Spine keeps your spine flexible, healthy and youthful.
The spine needs movement. The spinal disks are the shock absorbers between the vertebrae and they need movement. Movement is essential for them to receive nutrients, to keep them supple and flexible.
The joints and cartilage are thirsty for movement as well. Without movement the tissue of the cartilage (the protective cushioning) will degrade, leaving the underlying bones exposed, which can cause serious pain.
The muscles and connective tissue need regular stretching and strengthening.
The bones need to bear weight, to stay strong and dense. They need enough strength to avoid the symptoms of osteoporosis which is the weakening of the bone tissue, the main cause of fractured bones. This is a very common problem among elderly. Women having smaller, lighter bones, are more prone to osteoporosis, especially when reaching the time of menopause. This happens because of the decrease of oestrogen level. Oestrogen is a female hormone which is responsible for keeping the bones strong.
In conclusion, the human body as a whole needs movement and has to be put under the right amount of pressure on a regular basis in order to maintain strength and flexibility and general health.
The main purpose of Yoga, Yoga for the Spine is prevention and recreation. It would perfectly suit both men and women, looking for better spine health and a more supple mental and physical body. You also learn to breathe properly. Correct breathing leads to a clear and focused mind, better concentration and balance. With better balance you are less likely to fall or fracture your bones.
On the private yoga sessions for the Health of the Spine we apply plenty of twisting, back bending and forward bending asanas, to supply the spine and the surrounding connective tissues with the vital nutrients and fluids. Through specific asanas we strengthen and tone the muscles alongside the spine making them stronger, to be able to support the spinal cord. Alongside balancing the posture and building strength, you improve your body awareness by guiding your focus inwards to observe your reactions and sensations. Yoga for the Spine also places emphasis on breathing properly. Practising Yoga for the Spine with the assistance of your private yoga teacher will have a positive, stimulating effect on the functioning and health of all your body’s systems.
