What is Hatha yoga?
Hatha yoga refers to any type of yoga that practises physical postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), relaxation and meditation.
Most contemporary and well-known forms of yoga, like Iyengar, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, apply the main elements of Hatha yoga as well. Also Yoga for the Spine and Yoga for Women`s Health – another type of private yoga sessions I offer, are based on the principles of Hatha yoga.
Hatha yoga is an excellent choice to start with whether you are new to yoga, looking for a place where you can escape your hectic, fast paced lifestyle, or you would like to deepen your practice in yoga.
Hatha yoga is a gentle yet challenging, more static and slower paced form of yoga. It allows you time to become familiar with the asanas, holding them for a few breaths, giving you time in between the poses to observe your sensations throughout your body. This creates valuable body awareness. It involves pranayama and may include mantras (chanting), mudras (hand gestures), cleansing techniques like shatkriyas, relaxation, meditation and visualisation. These exercises strengthen and relax the body and promote physical and mental health, creating balance and peace of mind.

In Sanskrit, the meaning of “ha” is the “sun” and ”tha” means the “moon”. They represent the main opposing aspects of our physical, mental and spiritual complexion, like Yin and Yang, extrovert and introvert, vigorous and gentle. Hatha yoga creates harmony through balancing these opposing energies.
Regular practice of Hatha yoga through private yoga session will intensively improve your physical, mental and spiritual health. We focus on strengthening, stretching and loosening your body by putting it to positions that you are not used to. This will stimulate your hormonal, digestive, endocrine and circulatory systems. You will release the tension and stress caused by emotional traumas.
Soon, just after few sessions, you perfect some fundamental and easy to perform hatha yoga asanas, you can integrate into your daily relaxation or pick me up ritual. One of them is Viparita Karani – Legs Up To Wall Pose. After a long, exhausting day, practising Viparita Karani, is an excellent tool to calm your mind and recharge the reservoirs of your body. Another basic asana to perform on daily basis is Vajrasana – Hero Pose. Perfect asana to stimulate your digestive system and alleviate the symptoms of varicose veins. These are just a few of the wonderful tools of yoga, you can use to achieve health, good mood, sense of well being.
